When Does 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tourney Begin?

The calendar has turned to March 2014, and everyone is ready for better weather.

But the new month also means a renewal of an American sporting tradition — the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, that thing known as March Madness. It’s an electrifying introduction to spring. Also, it’s perhaps the ultimate David and Goliath scenario, where schools like Butler and Syracuse are on equal footing.

So, when does it begin and end?

  • According to website information, Selection Sunday is March 16, when the actual brackets will be determined. Play begins on March 18.
  • The madness culminates in the Final Four, to be held in Dallas on April 5-7.

In the Southeast, a couple of tournaments also will add to the fan fury leading up to the Big Dance.

  • The Southeastern Conference tournament will be in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on March 12-16.
  • The Atlantic Coast Conference tournament will be in Greensboro, N.C., on March 12-16.

And some real-time bracketology already is going on on a CBS website.
