College Football Playoff: Championship Weekend Matchups, Results

The most critical weekend of the 2014 college football season has arrived. The now-completed conference championship games and other key matchups will determine pairings for the new College Football Playoff (CFP).

With Saturday’s results in, the CFP selection committee will announce its final four teams and semifinal pairings on Sunday (Dec. 7), 12:30 p.m. on ESPN.

The Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl games on Jan. 1, 2015 will serve as semifinal games. The inaugural CFP championship game will be Jan. 12, 2015 in Arlington, Texas.

The weekend’s key results:

SEC: Alabama (No. 1 in CFP rankings) 42, Missouri, 13

ACC: Florida State (No. 4 in CFP rankings) 37,  Georgia Tech 35; New York Times game story

Pac-12: Oregon (No. 2 in CFP rankings) 51, Arizona 13

Big Ten: Ohio State (No. 5 in CFP rankings) 59, Wisconsin 0.

Also important:

Baylor (No. 6 in CFP rankings) 38,  Kansas State 27

TCU (No. 3 in CFP rankings) 55, Iowa State 3
