Katy Perry Does ESPN; Twitter Reacts

You expected a fight song? C’mon, this is live TV in the social media era.

Not long after singer Katy Perry appeared on ESPN College GameDay on Saturday, Twitter went into overdrive. “Why is Katy Perry” was trending, with people wondering why the superstar entertainer, who has no known sports or Southeastern connections, was on stage in Oxford, Miss. (See the above video and below tweet for an excerpt.)

Of course, the question answers itself. Perry has almost 58 million Twitter followers, and her presence on ANY live TV show will set social networks on fire. If you tweeted about it, you bought in.
