New Site for Historic Art Piece in Gwinnett

The City of Suwanee is known for its public art program. And one piece that has been on display in a prominent area will be getting a new home, at least temporarily.

According to a Facebook post, Ray Stanjevich of Friends Suwanee Grill said that the Berlin Wall artifact that has been on display in front of City Hall will be moved to the Gwinnett  Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville.

The post read:

We will be moving the Berlin Wall piece from Suwanee to display it for a limited time in front of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville. This piece of history will hopefully remind us that those who do not remember their past are condemned to repeat it.

Stanjevich, a European immigrant, bought the 8,000-pound Cold War artifact at auction in May 2013 for $24,000. He had said that he wanted the piece to remain in Gwinnett County.
