Give Duluth Mayor’s Selfie an Oscar

As State Of The City addresses go, Monday’s speech by the mayor of Duluth (Ga.) was unique.

Nancy Harris took the opportunity to tweet a selfie of her and the crowd at City Hall, a la Ellen DeGeneres at the Oscars. The tweet (displayed above) is posted on Harris’ account (@duluthgamayor).

Harris was using the selfie to emphasize the city’s use of social media.

Also, according to a report in the Gwinnett Daily Post, the mayor made the following disclosures in her speech, which was delayed from February by the winter storm:

  • There is a buyer for Proctor Square, an area near City Hall that is regarded as a redevelopment target;
  • The popular Food Truck Fridays in the downtown area will resume in June.
