It’s Super Bowl weekend 2014, and it looks like freezing weather is all that the game’s organizers will have to contend with in the New Jersey-New York area. Just don’t let them put Georgia officials in charge if a storm hits …
- In case you think you’re seeking Denver QB Peyton Manning in every other TV commercial, you’re right. He makes a reported $12 million per year in endorsements, according to USA TODAY. Seems he has an advantage that his father, former NFL QB Archie Manning, never had — a history of good teammates. Remember that Peyton had Marshall Faulk in his backfield in his early Indianapolis career? And let’s face it, Peyton is a smart player who knows the value of maintaining a wholesome image.
- I’ve never been inside the stadium for a Super Bowl, though I do have a World Series attendance to my credit (1998, San Diego). But I was among fans of both colors during the Denver-Green Bay game in San Diego in January 1998 (see the attached photo). It’s hard to imagine the same level of fan frenzy in such a cold weather locale as NJ-NY in 2014. Just sayin’.
- Showing the meteoric march of mobile technology, fans attending the 2014 Super Bowl will be bombarded with some location-based mobile messaging on their smartphones, according to the New York Times. The NSA will probably be taking lessons. 🙂
- Seattle’s Richard Sherman has become sort of an anti-Peyton because of his rant after the San Francisco game. Think maybe there was a method to his madness? A report says he could make $5 million or so in endorsements because of his nationally televised trash talk. I just hope they don’t test him with some sorry products. 🙂
